On Wednesday February 22nd, ...the Texas Cultural Trust will officially honor its 2017 recipients for the biennial Texas Medal of Arts Awards. ...artist Leo Villareal, created the massive light sculpture that serves as the signature artistic element in the atrium of the Dallas Cowboys' new 91-acre, $1.5 billion headquarters, The Star in Frisco. Villareal also created The Bay Lights, which illuminate the bridge between San Francisco and Oakland in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Li Hui materializes his exceptional vision of destruction and violence in sculpture as an allegory for human sociological interactions. The artist himself states of the exhibition, "The fusion of art and technology must reveal some truth about humanity." This can be seen in Ksana (derived from the ancient Sanskrit word for a fraction of a second in time) on view at the gallery through June 27th 2015.

Li Hui displays, Halcyon Fracture, a light and stainless steel sculpture at the Savannah College of Art and Design, in Savannah, Georgia. The exhibition will be on view through October 1, 2014.
... Hui is acclaimed for creating works with striking optical effects that are simultaneously breathtaking and disorienting. They are conceptually influenced by Eastern religious thought and philosophy, with an emphasis on Zen Buddhism that encourages meditation and contemplation. "I believe in mental communication rather than verbal explanation," Hui said. "To be honest, I don’t think art can ever be fully explained in words. Peter Halley displays classic American culture through minimalism and color in a new exhibition entitled, New York Moment at the Musée d'Art Moderne in Saint-Étienne, France. The exhibition will be on view through May 18, 2014.
... The iconography of works by Peter Halley feeds reference to architecture, but also social organization. The free galleries at the Tate Britain gallery on Millbank are filled with wondrous things, from the seductive 19th-century landscape paintings by J.M.W. Turner to the eye-popping “Drawing for Free Thinking” by contemporary artist David Tremlett that wraps around the Manton stairwell. The galleries open at 10 a.m. on Sundays, and if you arrive early you’ll have some quiet time to view the works. Leo Villareal's stunning Bay Bridge light sculpture illuminated the night for the first time March 5, 2013. The brilliant LED work features 25,000 lights specially programmed by Villareal to perform unique, non-repeating, series of displays. The spectacular Bay Lights will brighten the San Fransisco Bay Bridge Western Span from dusk until 2:00AM through 2015.
